Editing pieces of my fave Black womxn was so relax Editing pieces of my fave Black womxn was so relaxing and empoweringโค when I was younger my mum put up photos of inspiring Black people in the hallway, Michelle Obama, Nelson Mandela, MLK, Oprah etc, so that everyday when my brother and I would come downstairs in the morning we would go past people that helped pave the way for us to exist in so many ways, so that we knew whatever we wanted to become we could do it. When we came home, after exhausting or peaceful days no matter what happened on the outside with some things out of your control, in that hallway it reminded me of the world I wanted to exist in as I got older, it didn't seem impossible. The more access I had to social media the more I saw Black people that looked just like me, inside and out โค The Black experience is multi-dimensional and seeing these people I included in the video made me feel so seen. Spaces online and in person that represent us, that can guide us no matter how young or old you are, guidance is invaluable. Learning from those doing it in their own unique ways is so helpful and beautiful ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ moments can spin out of control, so having a space online and in person to guide you through these times whether that's watching your fave show that has your fave Black and queer lead or reading a book about Black people with superpowers, entering Black community spaces or watching Serena and Simone set another record, these are the moments that bring peace to the chaos. Find your unique peace, do not be afraid to rest in it we deserve peace โœŠ๐Ÿพโœจ

๐˜›๐˜ฐ ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ ๐˜คourses"ย  I had this song on repeatttt. Finding peace in embracing whatever comes. Understanding my past and having faith in my future. There was a sense of calmness that came with that, it was all part of the journey to better things, things that are right for you and aligned with you. Connecting with your past selves or inner child, the parts of yourself that made you who you are. Learning to love them and who you were, forgiving the history and also recognising the importance of standing firm in the person you worked to become today. 2020 helped me re-connect with my past selves, their passions and dreams. It was very easy to get lost in to do lists and meetings but this year, my mind needed to find moments of being still and grounded.ย  Connect with everything I stand for and reflect. Being on the go all the time isn't good, so finding that balance was essential. It took 22 years though๐Ÿ˜‚, sorting through the noise of what mattered and what didn't, letting go and giving in. Seeing power where I used to see weakness and taking up space as Black people should. Silence has no place here. Never be afraid of talking about your experiences, who you are and what you stand forโœŠ๐Ÿพ in 2021 my content on here will be created a bit differently, this month in particular made me want to make my content show more stories and more of my own past storiesโค connecting with art forms I enjoyed as a child and experiences from my past that can help others. However the message is still the same, representation matters, platforms for intersecting identities, talking about mental health and connecting with our past selves/inner child.
