🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️When I received the 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️When I received the grant funding some months back, one of the things I've always dreamed of putting on is a queer prom. My own Yr 11 prom (while it was nice) I wasn't myself and I imagine for other queer folk growing up in school it was the same, so now it's time to do it again but 100% authentically!

What a fabulous way to start Pride month huh?!?! And I had to bring my bestie @sister.shack in so we could put on a magical night for y'all! Tickets are now live and moments you'll never forget are coming soon. Queer Prom, are you ready for it?🥹😍

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Join Navii Media and Sister Shack for a 2023 Queer Prom for all. "Studio 54" is the theme of the night, so put on your glitziest outfit (optional, of course) and join us for a night of cabaret performers, market stalls, crafts, raffles, vegan Pick n Mix station and a mini Bend&Shake to end the evening.

We have kept ticket costs down for this evening by not including hot food in our pricing, but we will have a food offering. Our food truck for the evening is @flipnfastcrepes , so arrive hungry and support a local LGBTQIA+-owned business.

Young people are encouraged to come, but this is a 14+ event, and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and leave by 10 PM when Bend&Shake starts. Please note that the cabaret may contain nudity, profanity and other adult things you may not want a child to see, so please use your discretion.

This queer prom is a safer space for LGBQTIA+ people. Please do not take up space if you do not identify as this.

Performers TBA

DJs TBA

Tickets £25+booking fee

Wheelchair accessible

Inclusive toilets

📆 7th October 7pm - 1am

Important PSA🌙💜with the rising heat it's imp Important PSA🌙💜with the rising heat it's important to remember and be mindful of folks wearing layers or long sleeves. I'm still learning to accept my scars but sometimes also wear layers if I'm having a hard time with gender dysphoria. Offer folks water and other chilling things like cold packs or sit with us in the shade, especially for folks on anti-depressants! Don't point out folks wearing layers, its hard enough going through what you're going through without people picking it out, also I ain't even supposed to be in this cold ass climate so if you see me wearing a coat in summer mind ya bizz😂💜

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✊🏾So it's pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✊🏾So it's pride season and I gotta get some things off my chest. This is a time to celebrate but also a time to recognise the discrimination Black LGBTQIA+ folks go through within our OWN community.

Black trans women made our rights possible, so why am I still seeing all white LGBTQIA+ line ups? In media? In work?

There is no excuse for our erasure and I personally do not take "we couldn't find Black queer folks" as a reason, there are so many SO MANY Black LGBTQIA+ orgs around the world, so why aren't we represented? 🤔 especially when performers are literally flown in to perform, it's the lack of intentional carelessness to find us, it's racism point blank period. It's not covert it's overt, plastered around the world that we're not wanted, respected or loved. Black trans women go through so freaking much, have been through so much but get treated so badly by our own community. Racism exists even in marginalized communities, and oof do I feel it as a Black trans and non-binary person.

Our Black trans women ancestors deserve the world, Black trans women here today deserve the world and the future of Black trans folks deserve the world, protection and love.

This is part of the reason why I began @naviimedia (so many reasons but one of the biggest) is that Black queer folks are often an afterthought. We exist. We're here, always have been and always we be.

Black queer orgs, individuals, businesses etc pls drop your IGs in the caption. We're here. No excuses. Pay us correctly. Show us correctly and treat us with love.

In my Miss Honey Era🍯👩🏾‍🏫@curious_ar In my Miss Honey Era🍯👩🏾‍🏫@curious_arts We were at Barnard Castle for the first Creative Youth Challenge of the year! 🎨🎬

In Partnership with YMCA, Northern Heartlands and TCR Hub we led a day of sticker album making, a writer's room for a new LGBTQIA+ TV Show and created friendship bracelets. All the activities were inspired by the theme 'Find Your Tribe!'.

Whilst we await Netflix's reply to our pilot show pitch… feel free to check out our next Creative Youth Challenge! Taking place at @queenshallarts in Hexham! Link in bio 🔗
